Getting There

Bedarra Launch

A 20 minute boat transfer service between Dunk Island and Bedarra Island operates daily and meets all flights into Dunk Island. Please Note: There are no transfers to Bedarra Island on Christmas Day.

Flight Transfers

Regular flights are available from all major capital cities to Cairns Domestic Airport with Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar. This is followed by a scenic flight (approximately 45 minutes) to Dunk Island, offering spectacular views of the coast, the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding Islands. Transfer flights are operated by Hinterland Aviation, which operates out of Cairns airport. Sunpalm Coach transfers are provided from the main terminal at Cairns to Hinterland Aviation Terminal. If arriving from a domestic flight to Cairns a minimum of one hour connection between flights is required. When arriving from an international flight a minimum of two hours is required - this includes domestic travel on an international flight number. These connection times are required in either direction.

Baggage Allowance

Please note on the service from Cairns to Dunk Island passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. Soft suitcases are preferable. A limit of 23kg applies (subject to loading restrictions). Luggage storage facilities are available at the Hinterland Terminal.

Private Chauffeured Car Transfer

Limousine companies offer a meet/greet service from Cairns Airport and Cairns City to Mission Beach. Cars depart daily on demand and seat up to 3 passengers with luggage. Larger vehicles are also available. Your car transfer can connect with a launch transfer to Dunk Island which departs to and from Mission Beach twice a day

Boat Launch Mission Beach - Dunk Island

The launch departs from Clump Point Jetty at Mission Beach to Dunk Island Jetty. Mission Beach is approximately 2 hours by road south of Cairns. Transfer time is approximately 20 minutes.
